DAVID HOCKNEY COLLAGES

When did the Cubist Period occur? Who is credited with this style? What are aspects featured of the Cubist Artwork?
-The Cubist period began in 1907 when Pablo Picasso and Georges Braque began collaborating to create a new and different type of painting that flattened the painting.  That was when the foundation for Cubism started.  In Cubist art, the artist flattens space and uses a variety of color (and/ or compositions) to express his subject in a creative manner along with different types of shapes and colors.

Who is David Hockney? What kind of work does/has he done? What Cubist features do you notice in David Hockney's work? Where and how might he have been influenced by the cubist period?
-David Hockney is one of the founders of Pop Art. After he moved to L.A. he moved away from Pop Art and used a kind of Naturalistic style. I think that there are some resemblances of Cubism in his work with the flat-type style of painting. He took on aspects from the Cubist period but retained his style along with it like what he did with his Pop Art style.
